The XS230SAPAL2 is an inductive proximity sensor built for environments where standard plastic sensors won't hold up. A 316L stainless steel barrel rated IP68 and IP69K means it handles washdown at high pressure and survives in food, beverage, and pharma zones. Sensing range is a generous 40 mm on steel targets, unshielded, with a PNP normally-open output circuit. Supply is 12-24 VDC, three-wire, with a 2 m pigtail of bare wire.
How it compares to the XS9E11RPBL01M12
The XS9E11RPBL01M12 is a plastic-bodied sensor with an IP67 enclosure, 10 mm sensing distance, and an M12 connector. It is NC (normally closed) vs the NO output here. For a panel initially wired for the XS9 variant, the XS230SAPAL2 requires a mechanical change: the cable entry (2 m flying leads vs M12 connector) and the larger M30 thread (vs a narrower plastic block form factor). The sensing gap is four times deeper, so a drop-in without rewiring or repositioning is not possible. Choose the stainless part only if the environment demands it.
Mounting and wiring
M30 threaded, 63 mm overall length, 2 m pigtail with bare wires. 3-wire unshielded, 15 mm minimum sensing distance, indicator light.
