The Telemecanique XS5 series XS508B1PAM8 is an M8 cylindrical shielded inductive proximity sensor with a PNP normally open output. Sensing distance is 2 mm at the face, supplied at 12-24 V DC and rated for loads up to 200 mA. The stainless steel body (grade 303) with nickel plating and IP67 / NEMA 4X enclosure makes it a candidate for washdown or mild chemical exposure in food or packaging lines.
What the ratings mean for fit
Shielded construction means the sensing face is flush-mountable in metal; no derating for flush install. The M8 threaded barrel requires a standard 8 mm hole. Wire count is three, output is PNP, and the electrical connection is a direct M8 connector, not a pigtail — panel side must have a mating M8 cordset. The LED indicator gives a quick visual confirmation of target presence.
