Field-fit note
The Telemecanique XS512B1NAM12 is a shielded M12 inductive proximity sensor from the XS5 series, built for washdown zones. The IP69K rating means it survives high-pressure, high-temperature cleaning cycles—key for food and beverage lines where spares for startup need to hold up to the install date. Nickel-plated brass body resists corrosion from caustic wash agents. Sensing distance is 2 mm, shielded, so it flush-mounts in metal without loss of range. NPN normally-open output sinks up to 200 mA; standard for PLCs with sinking inputs. Integral M12 connector (4-pin, 3 wires used) speeds panel wiring and reduces junction-box labor.
Mounting & wiring note
M12 threaded barrel accepts standard lock nuts; shielded design allows flush mounting. Wire: brown (VCC 12-24 VDC), blue (GND), black (NPN NO output). Leave fourth pin open.
