Tight spec for wet environments
The XS518B1MAL2 is a cylindrical shielded inductive proximity sensor from the XS5 series, built to survive where plastic sensors fail. The brass body with nickel plating stands up to H2S, chlorinated washdown, and physical abuse in pump stations and wastewater treatment. IP68 covers continuous submersion; IP69K handles high-pressure hot-water cleaning—no boot or extra enclosure needed. Accepts 24-240 V AC or DC on the same pair of wires. The NO output switches up to 300 mA. Built-in overload, reverse polarity, and short circuit protection mean less head-scratching during commissioning—no external fuses or diode blocks required for common wiring mistakes.
Mounting and wiring note
The M18 threaded barrel mounts in a standard 18 mm hole; shielded, it allows flush mounting without reducing the 5 mm sensing distance. A 2 m bare-wire cable and indicator light facilitate wiring and setup. Operating temperature -13 to 158 °F.
