Washdown-rated M18 shielded proximity switch
This XS518B1PAM12 is a Telemecanique XS5 series M18 threaded shielded inductive sensor. It switches PNP normally-open, rated 200 mA max load, sensing 5 mm from the shielded face. The brass housing with nickel plating and IP69K rating means it stands up to hot caustic CIP cycles in a brewery or washdown environment — no plastic housing to craze. Onboard overload, reverse polarity and short circuit protection mean you don't need separate fusing on the 12-24 VDC supply; the sensor handles it. Three wires to a 4-pin M12 connector, direct connector type, with LED indication.
Not a drop-in for the XS9E11RPBL01M12
The closest peer on the shelf is the XS9E11RPBL01M12, but it's a different animal: plastic rectangular body, NC output, 10 mm sensing distance, and IP67 only — no IP69K. Switching frequency on that peer is 800 Hz vs. unspecified here but adequate for most prox applications. More important, the XS9E11RPBL01M12 is unshielded, so it requires a non-flush mounting gap; this XS518B1PAM12 is shielded and can be flush-mounted in metal. If you're sourcing a spare for a line that was built around the XS9E11RPBL01M12, expect to rewire (NO vs. NC) and possibly rework the mounting bracket. For a true same-footprint replacement, stick with this XS5 barrel.
Mounting and wiring quick note
M18 threaded barrel, 50 mm overall height, shielded for flush mounting; 3-wire PNP NO on a 4-pin M12 connector with indicator lights. Nickel-plated brass body rated IP69K and IP67.
