What this XS6 sensor is and what it does
The XS608B1PBM12: M12 shielded inductive proximity sensor. Senses metal targets at a 3 mm distance, flush-mountable in steel or aluminum panels. Output is PNP normally-closed — load de-energizes when the target enters the sensing face. Two-color LED indicator lights show output state and power on. Runs on 12 to 48 VDC; pushes up to 200 mA per switched load. Built-in overload, reverse polarity, and short-circuit protection, so the sensor is fault-tolerant on the line side. The stainless steel 303 body (nickel-plated finish) and IP65/IP67 sealing suit washdown areas, coolant splash, and environments where brass or polymer housings corrode. Rated UL Listed, CE, CSA, and RoHS.
What the ratings mean for your BOM line
PNP normally-closed output means the sensor is conducting when unactuated. If your PLC input is configured for PNP (sourcing) and expects a normally-open pickup, you'll need to invert logic or wire through a relay. Check your input module's contact form requirement. Shielded sensing face limits the electromagnetic field to the front, so the sensor can be mounted flush in metal without affecting the switching distance. No side standoff gap needed — useful in tight manifolds or cylinder-mount brackets. M12 4-pin connector mates with standard industry cables (A-coded). 3-wire configuration: brown (V+), blue (0V), black (output). The fourth pin is unused on a 3-wire PNP sensor — most M12 pigtails with a drain wire can leave it unterminated. Stainless steel grade 303 body with nickel-plated finish.
Sourcing and lifecycle position
Current production lifecycle. The XS6 family uses industry-standard M12 connectors and 3-wire PNP pinout, so it drops into existing XS-series cabled installations without adapter plates or wiring changes.
