What it is and what the ratings mean for your fit
This is a Telemecanique XS7G12PA140 inductive proximity sensor from the XS7 series. It's a flat-profile plastic barrel, side-lateral sensing face, rated for 2 mm detection range on ferrous targets. That 2 mm is a short-range sniffer — intended for close-proximity position feedback or presence on small actuators, not for long standoff. Supply is 12 to 28 VDC, output is PNP normally open, switching up to 100 mA. So it'll interface directly with most PLC digital inputs (sink or source depending on your commons) and relay coils within that current limit.
Housing and environment
IP67, plastic housing. That IP67 rating means it survives temporary submersion and hose-down, but I'd be cautious about continuous immersion or high-pressure washdown in a digester vault — the plastic body won't corrode, but the cable gland and housing joint are the weak points. For most industrial indoor environments and non-submerged outdoor spots it's fine. Ambient range -25 to 70 °C. The cable is 2-meter three-wire, ready to land in a terminal box or M12 connector (not included, bare leads).
