What It Is and Why It Works Here
The XS8C1A1MBL01U20 is a 2-wire, normally-closed inductive proximity sensor from the Telemecanique XS8 block family. It's unshielded with a 25 mm front sensing range, packed into a 40 × 15 × 54 mm PBT housing rated IP67 and NEMA 1/4X/12. The operating voltage covers both 24–240 VAC and 24–210 VDC, so it plays nice with AC control transformers or DC supplies without needing a voltage-specific swap.
What the Ratings Mean
That 25 mm sensing distance is the real number for an unshielded block this size. It detects ferrous metal at a practical gap for part-present or position detection on conveyors or machine stops. The 1000 Hz switching frequency is fast enough for most packaging lines but not for high-speed counting—watch your target speed. Accepts 24–240 VAC or 24–210 VDC input. Load current range is 5–300 mA. NC output means the sensor stays closed when a target is present. That matters for fail-safe wiring: if power drops, the output opens and signals a fault.
