The Square D XS8C1A1PAL2 is an unshielded inductive proximity sensor from the XS8 series, 40 mm wide, 15 mm deep, 54 mm tall. 25 mm sensing distance from the front face, PNP normally-open output, 12–24 VDC supply. 3-wire 2 m PVC cable; switching frequency 1000 Hz, maximum load current 200 mA. NEMA 1/4X/12 and IP68 enclosure — suitable for washdown or outdoor panel entry. LED indication on the body for alignment.
Crossing to XS9E11RPBL01M12? Not a drop-in
If you're sourcing a replacement for a panel that listed XS9E11RPBL01M12, note the differences: XS8C1A1PAL2 senses 25 mm vs the XS9's 10 mm. Output is NO instead of NC. Enclosure is IP68 vs IP67. Load rating is 200 mA vs 100 mA. Both are 3-wire PNP, 12–24 VDC, but the XS8 uses a 2 m cable while the XS9 uses an M12 connector. Mounting dimensions are different (40×15×54 vs 26×13×40 mm). The XS8 can't replace an XS9 without changing the bracket and rewiring the output logic.
