What it is and where it fits
The XS8C2A4MAU20 is an inductive proximity sensor from the Telemecanique XS8 series. It detects metallic targets up to 40 mm away without physical contact, making it a fit for part-present sensing, limit-switch replacement, or position feedback in automated machinery. The unshielded face allows a longer range than a shielded version, but requires a non-metallic zone around the sensing face to avoid false triggers. Supply voltage spans 24–240 V AC or DC, so it works with both AC and DC control circuits without a voltage converter. Output is a 2-wire NO contact rated to switch 300 mA. Rated IP65, IP67, and IP69K, the PBT housing and 1/2 inch connector stand up to high-pressure washdown — food, beverage, and car-wash environments. The green LED gives a visual on-target confirmation at a glance.
