20 mm shielded sensing in a washdown package
The XS8C4A1NCG13 is a rectangular inductive proximity sensor from the Schneider XS8 series, delivering a 20 mm shielded sensing range on mild steel. Shielded mounting means it can be flush-mounted into a metal bracket without derating the sensing distance — a practical advantage when panel space is tight and the sensor needs to sit inside a machine frame. Rated IP65, IP67, and IP69K, the PBT body and sealed electronics withstand washdown environments — the IP69K rating specifically covers high-pressure, high-temperature spray cleaning common in food-and-beverage lines. The bare-wire connection with screw-clamp terminals (4-wire) allows a field-terminated cable to be run directly into the sensor without a separate connector.
NPN output and supply flexibility
Output is NPN (sinking) with a maximum load current of 200 mA, configurable as NO or NC. The 12-48V DC supply range covers standard 24V control loops common in PLC-based automation. The integrated indicator light gives a quick visual on target presence during commissioning or fault isolation. The 40 mm × 40 mm × 117 mm rectangular body (depth × width × height) mounts with the sensing face on the 40 mm × 40 mm face. The shielded face allows flush installation — the metal target passes over the face without side-interference from surrounding metal.
