Telemecanique XS8G12MA230 is an inductive rectangular proximity sensor from the XS8 series, offering a 2-wire AC/DC output that runs on 24-240V AC or 24-210V DC – no separate power supply needed for mixed-voltage plants. Rated IP67 and NEMA 4X, so it handles washdown and outdoor enclosures. Unshielded sensing with a 4mm maximum distance; output is NO, switching up to 200 mA. The XS9D111A2M12 is DC-only (15-36 V) with an M12 connector and 40 mm sensing range – a different animal. This XS8 part covers both AC and DC rails, uses a simple 2 m cable, and fits a much smaller footprint (40 x 26 x 12 mm vs 80 x 80 x 26 mm).
Mounting and Wiring Quick Notes
Rectangular body with a 12 mm depth – slides into tight spots. Unshielded face means 4 mm sensing from the front face; don't bury it in metal. Prewired at 2 m, bare-wire ends: strip about 8 mm for a spring-cage or screw terminal. Indicator light gives a fast pass/fail during startup or swap – no scope needed. 2-wire hookup: connect one wire to supply, the other to load; polarity not enforced on AC, but on DC watch the voltage rating (24-210 V DC).
