Overview
The XSDC407139 is a Telemecanique XSD-series block inductive proximity sensor rated for a 40 mm sensing distance on a 12 to 48 VDC supply, switching at 180 Hz with a 2-wire normally-open output. Housed in a thermoplastic polyester body sealed to IP67 and NEMA 3/4X/12/13, it connects via screw terminals and carries UL, CSA, and CE approvals.
Selection and sizing
The 40 mm unshielded front sensing range suits applications where the target passes at a consistent distance, and the 180 Hz switching frequency handles fast-moving parts on a conveyor or indexing table without missing a pulse. The 2-wire NO output simplifies wiring into a standard DC control loop, but the 100 mA maximum load current limits it to signalling a PLC input or small relay rather than driving a contactor coil directly.
How it compares
Compared to the XSDH603629, which offers an adjustable 6 to 60 mm range but switches at only 50 Hz on a fixed 24 VDC supply, the XSDC407139 trades range flexibility for a faster 180 Hz response and a wider 12 to 48 VDC operating window, making it the better fit for high-speed sensing on a variable-voltage bus. The XSDC407139 uses screw terminals, while the XSDH603629 comes with a 2 m PVC cable — choose the screw-terminal version when the sensor must be replaced without pulling new cable through the conduit.
