What XUAJ0214 is
The Telemecanique XUAJ0214 is a tubular photoelectric through-beam sensor from the XUA miniature series, packaged in a threaded nickel-plated brass barrel sealed to IP65 and IP67 — equivalent to NEMA 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13 — so it is sized for washdown and dusty panel-side mounting without an extra shroud. Its sensing distance is 2 m, which on a through-beam pair means the emitter sits one side of the target zone and the receiver (this order code is the receiver half) sits the other, with detection registered when an object breaks the beam. The unit runs on 12 to 24 VDC, switches a maximum load of 100 mA in an NPN normally-open configuration across three wires terminated to a 2 m PVC cable, and uses a PMMA lens.
Where the timing matters
On-off response time is 0.25 ms, which corresponds to the listed switching frequency of 2000 Hz — fast enough for small-part counting on a conveyor or indexing verification on a packaging line without needing a dedicated high-speed sensor. With a 100 mA maximum load current the output can drive a relay coil, a small solenoid valve, or a PLC DC input directly; the NPN NO arrangement sinks current to common, so the load is wired between +V and the sensor output lead.
Mechanical and connection notes
The threaded nickel-plated brass body is built to IP65 and IP67 (NEMA 4/6/6P/12/13) at the housing; the 2 m PVC cable is what carries the seal through the panel entry, so strain relief at the gland matters for the washdown rating. The cable exits as a 3-wire PVC lead — brown (+V), blue (common), black (NPN output) on the usual Telemecanique colour key — so there is no M12 connector to misorder on the harness side.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
No successor or peer part is recorded against this order code, so no second-source recommendation is asserted here; the unit is sourced as a Telemecanique XUA receiver against an RFQ, with UL and CE marks on file.
