Sensor type and wiring check
The Telemecanique XUAJ0515 is a diffuse proximity sensor with an NPN normally-open output rated for 100 mA steady load. It operates on 12-24 VDC and draws supply through a 2-meter PVC cable with three wires: brown (+VDC), blue (common), black (switched output to PLC input). The yellow LED on the barrel lights when the output is active – handy for on-site verification without a multimeter. Diffuse proximity sensor with infrared beam, rated sensing distance 1.9 inches. Target surface reflectivity may affect effective range. Response time is 0.75 milliseconds (on and off), supporting detection of fast-moving parts on a production line. The sensor switches at 700 Hz, so it can count items at high throughput. Verify that the PLC input card's filter time is set lower than the pulse width to avoid missing triggers.
