What this sensor is and where it fits
The XUB0APSNL2 is a current-production 18mm threaded photoelectric sensor from the Telemecanique XUB family, with a plastic housing and a 2-meter PVC cable. It outputs PNP (sourcing) and works from 12 to 24 VDC. The sensing ranges cover four common modes: 30 cm diffuse, 12 cm with background suppression, 2 m polarized retroreflective, and 15 m through-beam — all using the same unit via the light/dark operating mode selection. Response is 2 milliseconds on/off, switching at 250 Hz, so it keeps up with fast-moving parts on a conveyor or packaging machine.
Signal integrity in a noisy plant
The 2-meter cable is unshielded PVC — fine for runs away from VFDs and welders. If you're mounting near a variable-frequency drive or high-current bus, run the cable in a separate metal conduit, or switch to a shielded version. The sensor itself switches clean at 250 Hz, but noise on the output can false-trigger a PLC input. Check the shield ground first if you see spurious counts. The 100 mA max load is plenty for a PLC input or a small relay, but don't drive a solenoid directly.
