The Telemecanique XUB0BPSNL2 is an 18 mm diameter photoelectric sensor from the XUB series, intended for object detection in industrial automation. It outputs PNP (NO/NC configurable), pulling up to 100 mA into the load. Operating voltage is 12 to 24 VDC, response time 2 ms on and off, switching frequency 250 Hz.
Sensing range covers four common modes: 30 cm diffuse, 12 cm with background suppression, 2 m polarized retroreflective, and 15 m through beam. The actual installable distance depends on target reflectivity and ambient light, but these numbers bracket the maximum usable span per mode. The nickel-plated brass housing (IP67, NEMA 4X/12) makes it suitable for washdown areas, coolant spray, or dusty environments where a plastic barrel would degrade. Lens is PMMA; keep organic solvents off it.
PNP vs NPN — the sibling you don't want to confuse
The XUB0BNSNL2 is identical in every mechanical and electrical dimension except output type: it is NPN, not PNP. If your PLC input card is sourcing (common to 0V), you need this PNP version. The pinout on the 2 m PVR cable is the same — brown +VDC, blue 0V, black output — but swapping one for the other without also swapping the input card will not work.
