The Square D / Telemecanique XUB2ANANL2R is a tubular through-beam photoelectric detector from the XUB series. It gives you a 15-meter sensing distance across an open gap — emitter and receiver separate, so the beam has to be broken to trigger the output. That makes it a solid choice for counting parts on a conveyor, detecting a pallet at the end of a line, or flagging a missing cap on a bottle before it hits the labeler. It runs on 12 to 24 VDC and switches a 100 mA NPN output — normally open configuration. The response time is 1 millisecond on and off, which keeps up with a fast-moving line without missing pulses. Switching frequency is rated at 500 Hz, so it can handle about 500 detect/no-detect cycles per second before the output starts to blur.
Built for wet and washdown environments
The housing is PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) with an IP67 and NEMA 4X/12 enclosure rating. That means it's dust-tight and can take a direct hose-down — useful on a bottling line or in a washdown bay where you're spraying sanitizer every shift. The lens is PMMA (acrylic), which holds up fine in most industrial wash solutions, though I'd keep it away from concentrated solvents. The threaded 18 mm barrel makes mounting straightforward: drill a 18.5 mm hole, thread it through, and lock it with the included nut. No bracket to lose. Connection is a 2-meter PVC-jacketed cable with three wires — power, ground, and the NPN output signal. Strip about 8 mm, land them in a terminal block or a M12 pigtail if you need a quick-disconnect. The cable jacket is oil-resistant enough for most machine-tool environments, but if you're running it through a cable track that sees constant flex, you'll want to support the cable near the sensor body to avoid fatigue at the strain relief.
