Through-beam receiver, 15 m range — the fit constraint
The XUB2BPANL2R is the receiver half of a through-beam photoelectric pair, rated for a 15 m sensing distance. That range assumes clean air and aligned optics — in dusty or misty environments the effective range drops, so budget 10-12 m for reliable detection in a warehouse or conveyor tunnel. Output is PNP normally-open, sinking up to 100 mA at 12-24 VDC. The 1 ms response time (ON and OFF) means it can track objects moving past at line speed without missing edges — the downstream PLC input filter needs to be set faster than 1 kHz to capture every pulse.
IP67 barrel — washdown and outdoor duty
The 18 mm nickel-plated brass barrel carries an IP67 and NEMA 4X/12 enclosure rating. That means the sensor body and the lens seal withstand hose-down cleaning and condensation — suitable for food processing, car wash tunnels, or outdoor gantry cranes where the optics would fog in a lower-rated housing. The lens is PMMA (acrylic), which resists yellowing under UV better than polycarbonate but is less scratch-resistant. In abrasive environments like sawmills or sand-handling, a metal lens shield or recessed mounting is worth specifying.
