This XUB4BPBWM12 is a diffuse photoelectric sensor from the XU series, using an infrared beam to detect objects within 100mm of the face. It's a straightforward part for short-range reflective presence sensing on conveyors or packaging lines, where you don't need a separate reflector or emitter. The SCR normally-open output switches DC loads over the 12V to 24V supply range. The M12 connector keeps wiring tidy, and IP65 rating handles washdown as long as the connector is properly seated.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 100mm sensing distance is rated on a standard white card – real-world range will drop with darker or matte targets. For a clean signal, mount so the target passes within about 80mm of the lens to leave headroom for dust or misalignment. SCR output is a solid-state switch, not a relay. It handles DC loads up to the supply current rating (check the full datasheet for exact mA). No coil suppression needed, but watch the off-state leakage – it's there, usually under 1mA, which can keep small PLC inputs pulled high if not accounted for. IP65 rating handles splashing water but not submersion. Keep the M12 connector properly seated to maintain the seal.
