The XUB5ANANM12 is a current-production M18 diffuse photoelectric sensor from the Telemecanique XU line. It's a straight-face NPN light-ON unit with a 600 mm maximum sensing distance, fed from 12-24V DC through a built-in 4-pin M12 connector. The cylindrical PBT body carries IP65, IP67, and IP69K ratings, so it's speccable into washdown zones where lower-IP parts won't hold up. Switching frequency is 500 Hz — enough for conveyor counting and pallet detection but not high-speed packaging registration. Coil draws 100 mA max; overload, reverse-polarity, and short-circuit protection are integrated on the board, saving an external fuse holder in the panel.
The closest peer in form factor is the XU2M18AP20D — same M18 diameter, same M12 pinout — but it's a through-beam set (separate emitter and receiver) with a 70 m range, PNP output, and a metal housing. If your BOM calls for XUB5ANANM12, the XU2M18AP20D won't drop in: wiring is NPN vs PNP, the sensing method is different, and the reflector/target requirement changes the installation completely. No one cross-reference exists; stick to the diffuse model unless you're re-engineering the station. The XURK1KSMM12 is also diffuse but rectangular with selectable light-/dark-ON and NPN+PNP — a different footprint and a faster 10 kHz switching speed, but not a mechanical fit in an M18 mounting hole.
