800 mm diffuse detection for wet washdown zones
The XUB5BNANM12 is a diffuse-mode photoelectric sensor with an 800 mm maximum sensing distance on a standard white target — that range covers most conveyor-side presence detection and fill-level checks without needing a reflector or separate receiver. The IP65/IP67/IP69K rating means the sensor body and the M12 connector interface survive high-pressure hot-water washdown and caustic sanitizer spray typical in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical lines — the nickel-plated brass case resists corrosion that would pit a plastic barrel over repeated cleaning cycles. Double insulation adds an extra layer of electrical isolation between the 12-24 VDC supply and the metal housing, which matters when the sensor is mounted on stainless steel machine frames that are bonded to the plant ground grid.
1 ms response at 500 Hz switching
The 1 ms response time and 500 Hz switching frequency let this sensor detect containers moving past at line speeds — at 500 Hz the output pulse width is about 2 ms, which is enough for most PLC input cards with 1-3 ms hardware filters to register the edge reliably. The NPN (sinking) output switches up to 100 mA — confirm your PLC input module expects a sinking signal; if the card is PNP sourcing, you will need an interposing relay or a different sensor variant.
Current production with M12 quick-disconnect
The 4-pin M12 connector (standard A-coded) mates with any M12 cordset — field replacement takes under a minute without opening the panel or touching the wiring. CE, CSA, and UL Listed approvals cover the sensor for installation in North American and European industrial machinery — the UL listing satisfies most plant safety audit requirements for the sensor itself.
