What this sensor is and what the key ratings mean for your bin
The Square D / Telemecanique XUK2APBNL2R is a sub-compact through-beam photoelectric sensor in the XUK series. It gives you a 30m sensing range with a PNP output that is normally closed, and it operates on 12 to 24 VDC. The 2ms response time and 250 Hz switching frequency handle moderate line speeds for part presence or gap detection. The 30m range means this is a through-beam pair – you need a separate emitter and receiver. The 100 mA maximum load current can drive a PLC input or a small relay directly, but not a larger contactor without an interposing relay. The IP65 and NEMA 4/4X/12/13 enclosure makes it dust-tight and hose-down resistant, so it holds up in washdown, outdoor, or dusty environments. The 2m PVR cable is a molded pigtail; you'll terminate it in a junction box or run it to a terminal strip.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
If you need to cross it to something already in your storeroom, the XUK family shares the same form factor and cable length, but output configurations (PNP vs NPN, light-on vs dark-on) vary by suffix. The XUK2APBNL2R is specifically PNP normally closed; swapping to a different output type means changing wiring logic.
