The XUSL4E30H121L is a Type 4 safety light curtain from the XUSL series, configured as a receiver and transmitter pair. Its 30 mm detection capability catches fingers and hands reaching into the hazard zone. Protective height is 1.21 m (1210 mm), covered by 61 infrared beams with an operating range from 0 to 20.0 m. That range gives flexibility for wide guarding apertures without needing a separate reflector or corner mirror — the transmitter and receiver face each other across the hazard zone. Runs on 24 VDC supply, rated for -20°C to 55°C ambient. The IP65/IP67 ingress rating means the sensor housings and optics withstand washdown and outdoor exposure — suitable for food-and-bev lines, packaging floors, or any area where hosing down the cell is part of the sanitation cycle.
Type 4 per IEC 61496-1 is the highest safety integrity level for electro-sensitive protective equipment — it can be used for applications up to SIL 3 / PL e. The 30 mm resolution is the key fit parameter: it detects a 30 mm diameter object (a hand or finger) anywhere in the field, so the safety distance calculation (per ISO 13855) uses that resolution to set how far back the curtain must be mounted from the pinch point. 61 beams spaced across 1210 mm gives a beam pitch of roughly 20 mm — tight enough that a hand cannot slip between beams without breaking at least one. The 20 m maximum range covers long guarding spans; if your application needs less than 20 m, the curtain auto-adjusts to the actual distance without configuration.
