Switching and output — what drives the I/O card choice
Discrete output is complementary NPN and PNP with a 1NO/1NC contact form, switching at 250 Hz with a 25 msec response time and a 100 mA maximum load current — enough headroom to sink a relay coil or a PLC fast input without an interposing relay. Light On / Dark On is selectable on the body, and the on-board indicator plus integrated display make alignment and SAT loop-checks a one-person job.
Wiring fit — M12 4-pin direct connector
The XUX0AKSAM12 is a Direct Connector variant with an M12 4-pin electrical connection, right-angle orientation, and the standard 31 mm × 92 mm × 77 mm rectangular PBT footprint of the XU line. That connector style matters: the XUX0AKSAT16 sibling in the same family uses a screw-terminal electrical connection on the identical body, so a panel wired for screw terminations will need a cordset change to accept the M12 plug — same housing, different wiring entry.
Sensing envelope and environmental envelope
Maximum sensing distance is 11 m, with multimode optics programmable for background suppression, diffuse, retro-reflective, and polarized retro-reflective operation across the same window. Enclosure sealing is IP65 and IP67 with an operating range of -13 °F to 131 °F, and the unit carries CE, CSA, IEC 60529, RoHS, and UL Listed compliance for panel-side spec freeze.
