What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV2011-0CA10-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor-protection circuit breaker in frame size S00, designed to protect motor branch circuits against overload and short-circuit. It carries a Class 10 trip characteristic, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a locked-rotor condition without nuisance tripping on normal starts. Rated breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 400 V AC (and at 240 V, 500 V, and 690 V AC), which gives solid SCCR headroom for most industrial panel designs without needing a current-limiting upstream fuse. Phase failure detection is built in — if one phase drops, the bimetal elements see the current imbalance and trip the load before single-phasing cooks the motor.
Mounting and panel fit
Mounts via screw fixing or snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715 — any orientation works. The S00 footprint is compact: 45 mm wide, 97 mm deep, 97 mm tall. Clearance requirements are 50 mm above and below, 30 mm to the side, and zero forward or backward. That 45 mm width means it occupies one standard 45 mm module slot on the rail, leaving room for a contactor or overload relay alongside. Terminals accept 2x 0.75–2.5 mm² solid/stranded or 2x 4 mm², with M3 screw terminals for the main circuit. Screwdriver spec is a PZ2 tip, shaft diameter 5–6 mm. Strip and torque per the terminal markings — no special tooling needed.
