What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV2011-0JA15-ZW97 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for motor starting and overload protection in industrial control panels. It snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, with screw terminals for the main current circuit. Trip Class CLASS 10 means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during locked-rotor events without nuisance tripping on normal starts. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side will drop the motor before single-phasing damages the winding.
Breaking capacity and coordination
Rated breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 240 V, 400 V, 500 V, and 690 V — that is Type 2 coordination territory for most motor starter combinations. It clears a bolted fault without welding the contactor's main poles upstream. Rated operational voltage spans 20 to 690 V, covering standard low-voltage motor circuits from 24 V control transformers up to 690 V industrial supplies.
Mounting and clearances
Width is 45 mm, depth 97 mm, height 97 mm. It mounts in any position; minimum clearance above and below is 50 mm, at the side 30 mm, forwards and backwards 0 mm — meaning it can be stacked directly against other devices on the rail with no extra air gap front or back.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Current-production part. This is the active SIRIUS 3RV2 generation, not the older 3RV1 family. If your BOM was built around a 3RV1011-0GA10, the 3RV2011-0JA15-ZW97 is the direct successor — same rail footprint, same terminal pitch, same CLASS 10 trip curve.
