The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV2011-0KA20-ZW97 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed for the main current circuit in control panels. It screws or snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, so it fits standard panel layouts without adapters. Rated CLASS 10 trip class, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a stall or locked-rotor event without nuisance tripping on normal starts. Breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 400 V and 690 V AC, which covers most industrial distribution panels in North America and Europe. That SCCR rating means it can safely interrupt a bolted fault up to that level without the arc flashing upstream to the main breaker. Phase failure detection is built in — if one phase drops, the breaker opens before the motor single-phases and cooks the winding. Ground fault detection is not included, so plan for a separate GFCI or RCD if the installation requires it.
Mounting and wiring
Mounts in any position, screw or snap-on to 35 mm DIN rail. Clearance: 50 mm above and below, 30 mm to the side, zero forwards or backwards — so it tucks tight against the backplane. Spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit accept 2× (0.5 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded. That's a solid grip for motor feeders up to the rated current — no screw torquing needed, just strip and push.
Lifecycle and sourcing
