The Siemens 3RV2011-1AA25-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker, designed to protect motors against overload and short-circuit. It carries a Class 10 trip class, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect most standard induction motors during a locked-rotor event. The breaker mounts on 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, using either screws or the integrated snap-on clip, and fits a 45 mm wide slot in the panel.
Panel fit and wiring
At 45 mm wide and 97 mm deep, this breaker occupies a single 45 mm DIN-rail module. The main current circuit uses spring-loaded terminals, accepting 2×(0.5…2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire. Clearance: 50 mm above and below, 30 mm to the side. Mounting position is any orientation, which simplifies layout in a crowded enclosure.
Ratings and so-what
Rated operational voltage spans 20…690 V. The interrupting capacity at 400 V is 100 kA — that's the fault current it can safely clear without welding contacts or rupturing the case. For motor starting duty (AC-3), it's rated for 15 operations per hour maximum. Phase failure detection is built in, so a single-phased motor will trip before winding damage occurs. Ground fault detection is not included.
