What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV2011-1DA20-ZW96 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed to protect three-phase induction motors against overload, short-circuit, and phase failure. Its Class 10 trip characteristic means it opens within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect standard IEC motors during a locked-rotor event. The interrupting capacity of 100 kA at 400 V AC means it can safely clear a bolted fault up to that level without requiring an upstream current-limiting fuse in most panel designs, simplifying coordination. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side trips the breaker before single-phasing damages the motor windings.
Mounting and wiring — panel integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The 45 mm width is a standard 2-module footprint — fits alongside contactors and overloads in a motor starter row without crowding. Depth of 97 mm leaves clearance for wiring ducts; the spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit accept 2× (0.5 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded conductors, so no ferrule crimping is required for the line and load connections. Mounting position is any orientation, which helps when the panel layout is tight.
