Motor protection circuit breaker, 100 kA SCCR, Class 10
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV2011-1EA25 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed for protecting three-phase motor circuits. Its 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V, 480 V, and 500 V means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without cascading upstream — critical for high-fault installations like large MCCs or distribution panels where available fault current is substantial. Trip Class 10 means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current, matching the thermal curve of standard induction motors during locked-rotor conditions. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side will trip the breaker — no separate phase-loss relay needed.
Mounting and wiring
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The 45 mm width and 97 mm depth fit standard panel layouts; any mounting position is allowed. Main circuit wiring uses spring-loaded terminals accepting 2× 0.5–2.5 mm² solid or stranded — no screw torque to check, just strip and insert.
Ratings and coordination
For backup fuse coordination, the breaker requires gL/gG fuses: 32 A at 400 V and 500 V, 25 A at 690 V. The 4 A rating at 480 V and 600 V and 0.33 hp at 230 V define the motor full-load current it protects. Maximum switching rate in AC-3 duty is 15 operations per hour — fine for normal starting duty, not for jogging or high-cycle applications.
