Motor protection circuit breaker — 100 kA SCCR, Class 10, 45 mm wide
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV2011-1FA20-ZW96 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed for the main current circuit of induction motors up to 3 hp at 460/480 V. It carries a 100 kA short-circuit breaking capacity at 400 V, meaning it can safely interrupt a fault of that magnitude without upstream fuses needing to clear first — a key spec for panel SCCR compliance. The Class 10 trip characteristic ensures it disconnects within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting, fast enough to protect standard IEC motors during a locked-rotor event. Phase failure detection is built in, so the breaker trips on loss of one phase — a common cause of motor burnout in unguarded three-phase lines. The spring-loaded terminals accept 2×(0.5…4 mm²) solid or stranded conductors, which keeps wiring consistent with the rest of a SIRUS motor starter assembly.
Mounting and clearances
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The 45 mm width and 97 mm depth fit a standard 45 mm slot on a motor starter combination; the 106 mm height leaves room for a busbar system above. Clearance requirements: 50 mm above and below, 30 mm to the side, 0 mm forward or backward — so it can sit flush against a backplate or enclosure wall. Any mounting position is permitted, which simplifies layout in crowded panels where vertical or horizontal orientation is dictated by the busbar run.
