SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker — what the ratings mean for fit
The 3RV2011-1JA10-ZX95 is a Siemens SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker, designed to combine short-circuit and overload protection in one device for motor feeders. Its CLASS 10 trip curve means it clears overloads within 10 seconds at 600% of the set current — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during start-up without nuisance tripping on normal inrush. The 100 kA SCCR at 400 V (and at 240 V) tells you this breaker can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream fuses, which simplifies panel coordination and saves a fuse holder. Phase failure detection is built in, so it will trip if one phase drops out — critical for preventing single-phasing damage on three-phase motors. It's rated for 5 hp at 460/480 V, which lines up with common North American motor frames.
Mounting and integration
Fastens via screw and snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. Any mounting position is allowed. The screw-type terminals for the main current circuit accept 2x (0.75–2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, or 2x 4 mm². Dimensions are 97 mm depth, 45 mm width, 97 mm height. Clearance requirements: 50 mm upwards and downwards, 30 mm at the side, 0 mm forwards and backwards — so it can sit tight against the back panel and adjacent devices as long as vertical breathing space is maintained.
