Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-3ED32-0AE0 — 100 A MCCB for line protection
The Siemens 3VA1010-3ED32-0AE0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 100 A at 40 °C ambient, derating to 91 A at 70 °C — useful to know if the breaker sits in a crowded enclosure where ambient runs high. Breaking capacity is 75.6 kA at 240 V, stepping down to 52.5 kA at 415 V and 32 kA at 440 V. At 690 V it still clears 7.5 kA — that covers most industrial line-to-line faults without needing a current-limiting upstream device. This is a 3-pole unit with no undervoltage release, no shunt trip, and no communication module. It ships with provision for up to four HQ auxiliary switches if you need status feedback to a PLC.
Current derating and thermal behaviour
The 100 A rating holds steady from 40 °C through 50 °C. Above that it derates linearly: 98 A at 55 °C, 96 A at 60 °C, 94 A at 65 °C, 91 A at 70 °C. If your panel internal temperature hits 60 °C, plan for 96 A continuous load maximum. Maximum power loss is 25 W — that's the heat the breaker dumps into the enclosure at full rated current. Factor it into your thermal budget if the panel is sealed or has limited ventilation.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The width is a standard 3-inch (76.2 mm) footprint for 3-pole MCCBs in this class — drops into most panel-mounted breaker bases without adaptor plates. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range -40 °C to 80 °C. That covers unheated warehouses and outdoor enclosures in most climates.
