RCBO for panel builders — what the ratings mean
The Siemens 5SU9336-1CN10 is a SENTRON RCD-operated circuit breaker (RCBO) combining overcurrent protection and residual current detection in a single 6-module-wide (108 mm) DIN-rail device. The 10 A rated current at 30 °C and Type C tripping characteristic mean it handles moderate inrush from motor starters or capacitor banks without nuisance tripping, while still clearing faults fast enough for downstream equipment. The 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2 covers most commercial and light industrial panel applications; if your available fault current exceeds that, step up to a higher-rated model. Temperature derating is baked into the spec: at 40 °C the continuous rating drops to 8.9 A, at 50 °C to 8.1 A, and at 55 °C to 7.7 A. If the RCBO sits in a crowded enclosure near transformers or contactors, size the circuit at the ambient-trimmed figure, not the 30 °C headline.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto standard 35 mm DIN rail. The 77 mm depth fits most shallow enclosures; installation depth is 70 mm. Supply can enter from top or bottom. IP20 rating applies once the distribution board is installed with conductors connected — not a sealed device, so keep it inside a rated enclosure for wet or dusty environments. Six modular width units (108 mm wide) for three protected poles. That's a tight fit for a 3P RCBO — verify DIN-rail real estate before committing the BOM if the panel is already dense.
Construction and compliance
Halogen-free and silicon-free construction, overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2. Surge voltage resistance rated at 4 000 V, surge current resistance 1 kA at 8/20 μs. Insulation voltage 440 V. Operating frequency 50/60 Hz.
