Breaker spec at a glance
The Siemens 5SY7113-8 is a 1-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker with a D tripping characteristic, rated 13 A at 35 °C ambient. It delivers 15 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and 25 kA per IEC 60947-2 — the higher IEC figure covers industrial fault levels upstream of a transformer or generator feed. The D-curve (10–20× In) is built for loads with high inrush — think motor starters, small transformers, or solenoid banks where a B- or C-curve would nuisance-trip on startup. At 13 A it handles a 3–4 kW motor on 400 V three-phase without issue. Thermal derating is published per degree: 13 A at 35 °C, 12.38 A at 40 °C, 12.05 A at 45 °C, 11.73 A at 50 °C, 11.38 A at 55 °C, 11.02 A at 60 °C. If the panel ambient runs hot, size up one frame — the 13 A rating drops 15 % by 60 °C.
Panel fit and mounting
Snaps onto DIN rail via quick-assembly system, one modular width (18 mm). Depth 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm. Mount in any position; pollution degree 3. Combined terminals top and bottom accept copper conductors; touch protection is built in. IP20 with connected conductors — fine inside a closed panel, not for wet or outdoor locations without an enclosure.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Rated for mechanical engineering and industry per the suitability listing. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction matters for clean-room or semiconductor-adjacent installs where outgassing contaminates optics or wafers.
