The Siemens 6ES7511-1FK01-0AB0 CPU integrates standard and fail-safe logic on one device, supporting PROFIsafe V2.4 / V2.6 for safety applications up to SIL 3 without a separate F-CPU. Onboard PROFINET IRT handles isochronous motion and, together with MRP and MRPD, provides media redundancy for line and ring topologies (IRT required for MRPD). The CPU offers 32 kB input and 32 kB output process image, covering the bulk of distributed I/O in a typical line, and supports MODBUS TCP, DCP, DNS, LLDP, SNMP, and HTTP/HTTPS for integration into existing IT/OT networks.

Width of 35 mm fits a standard DIN-rail slot; total depth 129 mm leaves room for front-panel cabling. Ambient operating range covers -40°C to 70°C, so the unit can be placed in unheated enclosures or near hot machinery without derating the processor. Programming options include LAD, FBD, SCL, STL, and GRAPH, with failsafe logic available in LAD and FBD. The CPU also runs integrated PID controllers for temperature and valve positioning with optimization routines. Up to 4 communication modules or processors (PROFIBUS, additional PROFINET, or Ethernet) can be inserted via the left-side bus, expanding connectivity without consuming the on-board PROFINET port.
