I/O and process image
The 6ES7511-1TL03-0AB0: This CPU handles 32 kbyte of inputs and 32 kbyte of outputs directly in the process image — no additional mapping or backplane bandwidth concerns for moderate I/O counts within that envelope. Forcing is supported, so you can override outputs during commissioning without modifying the logic.
Networking and protocols
PROFINET IRT with MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol) and MRPD (MRP with Planned Duplication) — the latter requires IRT active. This covers deterministic isochronous motion and ring redundancy in one port. MODBUS TCP is integrated natively; no extra module needed for legacy sensor networks. DCP, DNS, DHCP, LLDP, SNMP, HTTP/HTTPS are all on board. Maximum four additional communication modules (CM/CP) for PROFIBUS, additional PROFINET, or Ethernet — the backplane limits expansion to that count.
Temperature range and mechanical fit
Rated for -40°C to +70°C ambient — suitable for cold chain, unheated cabinets, or outdoor enclosures without forced cooling. Width 35 mm, height 147 mm, depth 129 mm. Ensure clearance above and below for airflow.
Power supply and protection
The I²t rating of 0.5 A²·s characterises the internal surge withstand; factor this into power-supply fuse selection and backplane current budgeting.
Programming and diagnostics
Programmable in all IEC languages: LAD, FBD, STL, SCL, GRAPH. Integrated PID control for temperature and valves with auto-tuning. Diagnostics via ERROR and MAINT LEDs, I&M data (I&M0 to I&M3), and a hardware clock with time-of-day support. PROFIsafe is not supported — this CPU is for standard safety applications only.
