Reader core and IO-Link interface
The Siemens 6GT2821-5BC32 is a SIMATIC RF250R RFID reader operating at 13.56 MHz, communicating via IO-Link V1.1. It reads ISO 15693 and ISO 18000-3 transponders (MDS Dxxx series) and connects to an IO-Link master over a maximum cable length of 20 m between master and device. The reader supports one external antenna via an M8 4-pin connector; the IO-Link interface uses an M12 4-pin connector.

Typical read access per byte is 2.4 ms; write access takes 3.3 ms per byte. Maximum radio transfer rate is 26.5 kbit/s. Compatible antennas include ANT 1, 3, 3NO, 8, 12, 18, and 30. The reader is not multitag-capable — it handles one transponder at a time.
