Drive identity and key ratings
The ABB ACS880-17-0145A-3 (3AXD50000157983) is a regenerative drive delivering 75 kW normal-use output at 145 A, with heavy-duty capability of 55 kW at 105 A. It runs on a 380 to 415 VAC, 3-phase supply and is housed in a Frame R8 enclosure rated IP22 and NEMA Type 1.
The 75 kW normal-use (Pn) rating matches a standard 100 hp induction motor on a pump or fan. The 145 A normal-use current (In) and 105 A heavy-duty current (IhD) are the numbers to check against your motor nameplate full-load amps. Ambient temperature is limited to 40 °C maximum; above that, derate per the drive's thermal curve. Altitude rating of 1000 m means no derating needed at most sites, but above that you'll need to reduce current per IEC guidelines.
Integration and I/O
The drive includes 2 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs for speed reference or process feedback, plus 7 digital inputs and 5 digital outputs for start/stop, fault reset, and status indication. Communication is via CAN; no onboard Ethernet, so if you need fieldbus, plan for an optional adapter module. The control unit is included. Two lithium coin cells (CR2032) back the real-time clock and parameter storage — expect to replace them every few years during maintenance.
The regenerative design is exempt from EU ecodesign requirements (Regulation EU/2019/1781, §2.3.c), so no energy-efficiency class is declared. The SCIP substance declaration (82D82DAE-9725-4373-865D-AA949B97DE50 Finland) is on file for REACH compliance.
