Drive ratings and duty selection
The ABB 3AXD50000814411 is a low-voltage AC machinery drive module from the ACS180 series, Frame Size R4, delivering 22 kW normal-use output (45.0 A) from a 380-480 V three-phase supply. For heavy-duty applications — conveyors, crushers, positive-displacement pumps — it supports 18.5 kW / 38.0 A; light-overload duty (variable-torque fans, centrifugal pumps) matches the 22 kW normal-use power at 42.0 A. Under UL listing the heavy-duty output is 25 Hp / 34.0 A and light-overload 30 Hp / 40.0 A at 460 V, so the module qualifies for North American panel builds without a separate derating step.
Integration and communication
The module is IP20-rated (open-type NEMA) and intended for enclosure mounting — no washdown tolerance, so it belongs inside a cabinet with a filtered air intake. Maximum ambient 40 °C, altitude 2000 m, humidity 5-95 % non-condensing. Onboard MODBUS RTU (RS-485) handles the control network; no built-in Ethernet port, so an external gateway is needed if the line uses PROFINET or EtherNet/IP. Two analog inputs, one analog output, four digital inputs, and two digital outputs cover the basic I/O for a standalone drive station.
Rated IE2 efficiency level (0.98 power factor) with 38 W standby loss and 69 dB(A) sound pressure at rated load — acceptable for most industrial environments; a silencer hood may be needed for noise-sensitive areas.
