The E2E-X2Y2: This cylindrical shielded sensor from the Omron E2E series detects ferrous metals at a maximum sensing distance of 2 mm. The 12 mm diameter nickel-plated brass body withstands cutting oil environments, and the 2 m prewired cable terminates in bare wires for direct panel wiring. Supply voltage is AC only — 20 to 264 V AC — with a normally-closed output circuit rated for 100 mA maximum load current and a minimum of 5 mA.
Compared to the same-series peer E2E-X5MY1, the X2Y2 is shielded with a 2 mm sensing distance (vs 5 mm unshielded) and a normally-closed output (vs normally-open). The X2Y2 comes with a fixed 2 m prewired cable; the X5MY1 uses an M12 connector for field-installable wiring. Both share the M12 threaded body diameter. If your panel was specified around the X5MY1, a change to the X2Y2 will require verifying that a shielded sensor with an NC output matches the input circuit and confirming cable routing length.
Environmental protection is IP67, with NEMA enclosure ratings covering 1, 12, 13, 3, 4, and 6. Operating temperature spans -40 °F to 185 °F. Standards include CCC, CE, and UR.
