The Schneider Electric A9C40225 is a 2-pole contactor from the Acti9 iCTK series, rated for 25 A in AC-7A duty and 8.5 A in AC-7B at 250 V AC, 50 Hz. It is designed for residential and small commercial lighting, motor, and heating loads, switching up to 1.2 W at 250 V AC. The control coil accepts 230-240 V AC 50 Hz, maintained signal type. Rated operational current of 25 A in AC-7A covers resistive and lightly inductive loads like resistive heating or incandescent lighting; the 8.5 A AC-7B rating applies to motor loads such as small pumps or fans. The 2 NO pole contact composition means both poles close on coil energization — no normally-closed auxiliary on this base unit.
Depth is 68.5 mm, height 81 mm. IP20 finger-safe enclosure; IP40 when installed in a modular enclosure. Tunnel-type terminals accept up to 6 mm² rigid on the power circuit, 2.5 mm² on the control circuit. Tightening torque is 0.8 N.m for both power and control terminals.
Durability and lifecycle
Electrical durability varies by duty: 80,000 cycles at 25 A AC-7A, 25,000 cycles at 8.5 A AC-7B, and 30,000 cycles under AC-3 motor switching per IEC 60947-4-1. Mechanical durability is 1,000,000 cycles.
Designed to IEC/EN 61095 (household and similar electromechanical contactors) and EN/IEC 60947-4-1 (low-voltage switchgear for motor starting).
