It protects a single-phase final subcircuit (1P+N, neutral left) against overload, short-circuit, and earth faults in one compact package that clips onto a DIN rail. The 6 kA Icn breaking capacity at 230–240 V AC, 50 Hz, conforms to EN/IEC 61009-2-1, which is the standard for residual-current-operated circuit breakers with integral overcurrent protection. The integrated earth-leakage protection trips at 300 mA sensitivity — a setting typically used for fire prevention or protection of equipment rather than personal shock protection (which requires 30 mA or lower). This makes the A9D69616 a fit for distribution subcircuits where the downstream RCD is already at 30 mA, or for circuits supplying fixed equipment where a higher leakage threshold is acceptable.
The 16 A rated current (In) sets the continuous load limit. In a domestic or light commercial distribution board with a typical upstream transformer impedance, 6 kA is adequate for most final subcircuits. The thermal-magnetic trip unit combines a bimetal strip for overload protection (thermal, time-delayed) and a solenoid for short-circuit protection (magnetic, instantaneous).
Mounting and wiring in the enclosure
Clip-on mounting on a DIN rail, 36 mm wide (4 modules at 9 mm pitch). Connection pitch is 9 mm between phase and neutral terminals, matching standard RCBO busbar spacing. Terminals accept 1 to 16 mm² rigid cable, or 1 to 10 mm² flexible (with or without ferrule). Wire stripping length is 15 mm. IP20 on the front (finger-safe), IP40 inside the modular enclosure once the cover is on.
