The Schneider Electric A9F05220 is an Acti9 iC60N miniature circuit breaker rated 20 A, D curve, 2-pole. It carries a 36 kA Icu breaking capacity at 12–133 V AC and 20 kA at 220–240 V AC, certified to both EN/IEC 60947-2 and EN/IEC 60898-1. That dual standard means it qualifies for industrial panel distribution (60947-2) and residential/commercial final circuits (60898-1) — one SKU covers both specs, which is another SKU I don't need to double-bin.
D curve and trip coordination
The D curve magnetic trip fires at 12 x In ±20 %, so 240 A minimum instantaneous trip. That's sized for motor-starting inrush, transformer magnetizing current, or capacitive loads where a C curve would nuisance-trip. The thermal-magnetic trip unit handles the overload side; the magnetic coil clears the short. On a 20 A D-curve breaker, expect a motor load up to about 7.5 kW (400 V three-phase) before the inrush exceeds the magnetic threshold.
At 400 V AC the A9F05220 delivers 10 kA Icu per EN/IEC 60947-2 and 6 kA Icn per EN/IEC 60898-1.
Snaps onto standard DIN rail. The 2-pole body takes 4 x 9 mm pitches = 36 mm width, 91 mm tall, 78.5 mm deep. Double terminals top and bottom accept 1–25 mm² rigid or 1–16 mm² flexible, torque to 2 N·m. Strip length 14 mm.
The Acti9 iC60N series is Schneider's mainstream MCB platform, so expect a long manufacturing tail.
