The Schneider Electric A9F08140 is an Acti9 iC60H miniature circuit breaker — a 1-pole, 40 A thermal-magnetic MCB with a D tripping curve. It's built for distribution boards where high inrush loads (motors, transformers, welding equipment) need a breaker that holds through the start-up surge and clears fast on a hard fault. The D curve means magnetic tripping occurs at 12 x In (±20 %), so on a 40 A breaker the instantaneous trip threshold sits between 384 A and 576 A. That's deliberately higher than a B or C curve — it avoids nuisance trips from motor inrush or capacitive loads while still providing short-circuit protection.
Breaking capacity and dual-standard certification
Breaking capacity is rated under both IEC 60898-1 and IEC 60947-2, which is the dual-certification you want when the same breaker panel feeds both residential-style final circuits and industrial distribution. Under IEC 60898-1 (the MCB standard) it's 10 kA Icn at 230 V AC. Under IEC 60947-2 (the industrial standard) it's 15 kA Icu at 220–240 V AC, 30 kA at 100–133 V, and 42 kA at 12–60 V AC.
