The Schneider Electric A9TDF3616 is an Acti9 iCV40 ARC residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection (RCBO), 1P+N, rated 16 A with a C-curve magnetic trip characteristic (5...10 x In). It breaks 6 kA Icn per EN/IEC 61009-2-1 and 10 kA Icu per EN/IEC 60947-2 at 230 V AC, 50 Hz — enough for most residential and light commercial final circuits where fault levels stay under 10 kA. The thermal-magnetic trip unit handles overload and short-circuit; the integrated residual current element adds earth-leakage protection in one 36 mm wide DIN-rail module.
The 16 A rated current and C-curve (5–10 x In magnetic trip) suit general-purpose socket circuits, lighting, and small appliance loads where inrush is moderate — think office power outlets or domestic ring mains. The 6 kA Icn is the service breaking capacity for routine faults; the 10 kA Icu is the ultimate breaking capacity for rare high-fault events, giving the installer headroom in selectivity coordination with an upstream 10 kA-rated MCB or fuse.
