The A9TPED616 is a 1P+N arc-fault detection MCB from the Acti9 Active ARC iC40N series, rated 16 A with a C trip curve. It combines overcurrent protection (thermal-magnetic) with arc-fault detection for series and parallel arcs, covering the outgoer position in a final distribution board. The 6 kA Icn at 230 V AC (EN/IEC 60898-1) and 10 kA Icu (EN/IEC 60947-2) give it the interrupting capacity for residential and light commercial panels where the prospective fault current stays under those thresholds. The 3 kA Icn1 rating is the lower limit for the IEC 60898-1 domestic standard — the 6 kA figure is the one you size the board's upstream device against.
Arc-fault detection and selectivity
This is not a plain MCB. The Active ARC logic monitors the waveform for the high-frequency signature of an arc fault — series (loose connection) and parallel (tracking) — and trips the breaker when it exceeds the detection threshold. The magnetic trip limit is 5 to 10 × In, so for a 16 A unit the instantaneous magnetic pickup sits between 80 A and 160 A. That range is standard for curve C and means the breaker will hold motor inrush on small pumps or compressors but still clear a hard short. The limitation class 3 rating tells you the let-through energy is low enough to protect downstream cables without an upstream current-limiting fuse in most domestic configurations.
Clip-on mounting onto a DIN rail, 36 mm wide (2 x 9 mm pitches), 73 mm deep, 91 mm tall. The IP20 finger-safe rating is fine for enclosed distribution boards — no special gasketing needed.
