The Schneider Electric A9TPED640 is an Acti9 Active ARC iC40N miniature circuit breaker (MCB) — a single-pole-plus-neutral device rated 40 A with a C-curve trip characteristic, built for AC networks at 50 Hz. It sits on a DIN rail in the outgoing feeder position of a distribution board, protecting branch circuits against overload and short-circuit faults.
Breaking capacity — what the three numbers mean
This breaker carries three breaking-capacity ratings, each tied to a different standard. At 230 V AC, 50 Hz: 3000 A Icn per EN/IEC 60898-1 (the domestic/commercial MCB standard), 6000 A Icn per the same standard, and 10 kA Icu per EN/IEC 60947-2 (the industrial standard for switchgear). The lower Icn values reflect the less demanding test sequence of the MCB standard. For a cement plant or similar dusty environment, the 10 kA SCCR headroom means this part coordinates cleanly with a downstream 40 A load and an upstream feeder breaker sized for the panel's available fault current.
Width is 36 mm, height 91 mm, depth 73 mm. Clips onto a DIN rail. Neutral on the left, supply cable entry at top or bottom.
Measurement and diagnostics — what the accuracy tells you
The iC40N ARC variant includes embedded measurement of voltage, current, active power, and power factor, with stated accuracy: ±2 % for voltage and current, ±5 % for power.
