The Schneider Electric A9V31240 is an Acti9 Vigi iC60 add-on residual current device — a 2-pole, 40 A, 30 mA unit with Type A-SI (Super Immunised) earth leakage protection. It clips onto a DIN rail alongside the matching iC60 MCB, forming a combined RCBO assembly for outgoing circuits in AC networks at 230...240 V, 50/60 Hz.
Type A-SI (Super Immunised) handles pulsed DC fault currents from electronics (VFDs, UPS, LED drivers) that would blind a standard Type A device, plus it resists nuisance tripping from transient surges up to 3 kA (8/20 µs waveform). Rated operational voltage is 230...240 V AC — this is a single-phase (line-to-neutral) device for 2-pole switching. The 40 A rated current matches the upstream MCB; the add-on block does not have its own overcurrent protection, so it must be paired with a 40 A iC60 breaker. Voltage-independent tripping means the RCD module does not need a separate power supply to detect leakage — it uses the fault energy itself. This makes it immune to neutral loss scenarios that can disable electronically-driven RCDs. IP20 on the body, IP40 inside the modular enclosure — suitable for dry indoor panel environments.
Clip-on mounting to DIN rail, 4 modules wide (9 mm pitch each = 36 mm total width). The 72 mm width, 91 mm height, and 73.5 mm depth fit standard Acti9 comb busbars on the bottom side. Tunnel terminals accept 1...35 mm² rigid or 1...25 mm² flexible conductors; tighten to 3.5 N·m. Strip 14 mm for bottom connection. The trip indicator gives local visual confirmation of RCD operation — useful during fault-finding without needing a test set.
